Paula and Ron Rallis took a trip to San Diego last month and we are so happy we got them in front of our lens’ albeit for only 20 minutes. During their trip, Ron went surfing with Devin several times– I probably should have photographed some of that but May gray had us snuggled up under blankets while we watched from the beach. Here are some images from the runway just moments before they jetted off on a long flight back to South Carolina.
Paula and I met in college back in 2006 and she has continued to inspire and support me and Pura Soul Photo over the years. As a College of Charleston Cougar, I had many friends at school who were smart, pulled together and driven but Paula really stood out. After college she (like most of us) played her hand (and excelled!) at a few different jobs before she landed where she is now, a private pilot and house flipper with a heart of gold and passion for Christ. Although we weren’t close in college, Paula’s spirit always felt close and familiar, as if I knew we would have the chance to connect years from then. Or maybe she’s just that type of person that is so relatable and interesting that you feel close to them when you’re really not? Not sure but either way, I love that we’re friends now and that I got to photograph her in her natural element with her handsome and wildly driven husband. This couple is goals.
The shoot happened on a whim and seemed pretty effortless for Paula and Ron. Without much time or planning, we all just showed up at the hangar early in the morning. Paula started the shoot in Levis and an oversized silk top. Later, she changed into a more comfortable Lululemon outfit that was conducive to a long flight. Paula calls this her flying uniform.
