Los Angeles’ show-stopping venue, Malibu Rocky Oaks, is much like the striking landscape of Tuscany and this styled wedding shoot will leave you dreaming of Italian nuptials. As true Italians would have it, cypress trees line the windy road showing guests from afar which direction to enter the estate. Between the olive trees, the vineyards and the rolling hills, Malibu Rocky Oaks offers endless vistas and places for photography. We chose three locations on the property to showcase Joy Proctor’s impeccable styling. First, the table setting around the infinity pool and deck, portraits in the interior lounge and finally sunset on the helicopter pad.

The bride wore Musat’s Venus gown with Bella Belle shoes. Nyrie Aitken swept the bride’s hair back accentuating her features and keeping the focus on the dress on it’s plunging neckline. Make up was elegant, clean and simple with minimal contouring and a touch of nude on Erin’s lips. The groom wore a black suit from Mister Tuxedo with a mini olive branch on his lapel.

Joy Proctor styled a beautiful table with olive branches. Tabletop provided by the Tent Merchant worked perfectly with the oatmeal/olive colored linens from La Tavola. The Idea Emporium got creative with black menu cards with gold script to accent the gold flatware. Mixing local olive branches with gold accents is a great way to incorporate modern luxury and natural elements.

This shoot was a special one for us. We really loved interacting with this couple and capturing their effortless beauty together and individually. The Musat dress moved gracefully in the wind as the sunset over the Malibu hills into the horizon. This shoot was part of a workshop hosted by Donny Zavala and styled by Joy Proctor, we had an ah-ha moment as all the pieces came together at the same time during sunset. Shot by Sky Stetten and Devin Wilson, completely on medium format film using Contax645 and Fuji400h film, we are thrilled to share this little slice of Italian romance with all of you.
